In Memory

Dedication to the legendary Cuban Saxophonist who died in 2008.  A steady fixture in Cuban music for many many years, Roland Pere Perez regularly entertained at Habana's Jazz Cafe in the Galleria Mall at Paseo and Malecon right across from the infamous Rivera Hotel that marked a turning point in the Cuban Revolution.

Known for his trademark alto sax sound, Rolando also was an inspired leader who always set the pace for his sidemen in both playing and attitude.   He is virtually a household name in Habana.  He will be remembered by many musicians as a clutch player.

Rolando Pere Perez played on several Mocombo charts on the CD Mocombo In Habana.  You can check out his playing on CD 2 'Bucanero Dance'  These recordings are among the very last studio tracks he performed on.
